GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) upgrades increase the legal weight your vehicle can carry, making them essential for towing, touring, or carrying constant loads. We use ADR-compliant Lovells GVM, GCM and BTC Upgrade kits, engineered for safety, performance, and full compliance whether your vehicle is new or already registered.

Lovells 3650kg GVM Upgrade

The Prado 250 3650kg GVM Upgrade is our most popular option for most travellers. This upgrade also includes an increase in GCM for federal compliance (pre rego). This upgrade will increase the ride height of the vehicle by approximately 50mm, depending on vehicle spec level and constant load.

  • Toyota Rear Axle 1860kg » Lovells Rear Axle Rating 2045kg

Lovells 3800kg GVM Upgrade for Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series

Lovells 3900kg Platinum GVM & GCM  Upgrade

The Prado 250 3900kg GVM Upgrade is for those travelling with larger vans and heavier loads. The suspension does a superb job of carrying these increased loads, but travellers can expect a stiffer ride when unladen. This upgrade also includes an increase in GCM for federal compliance(pre rego). This upgrade will increase the ride height of the vehicle by approximately 50mm, depending on vehicle spec level and constant load.

Note:

  • Fitted tyres must have a minimum load rating of 116 & speed rating of R.

ADR Compliance

As part of the GVM upgrade process on the Prado 250, the vehicle’s classification changes from MC (passenger vehicle) to NB1 (light goods vehicle), which introduces new ADR requirements. One of these is the fitment of ADR compliant Category 6 side indicators to the front guards.

Lovells Upper Control Arms

While not required, upgraded Upper Control Arms are a popular addition.

  • Stronger than OE
  • Built-in caster and camber
  • Improves wheel alignment
  • Increases wheel travel

Superior Engineering Diff Drop Kit

The Superior Engineering diff drop kit for the Prado 250 lowers the front differential to reduce CV joint angles after the suspension lift. By bringing the driveline geometry closer to factory spec, it helps minimise CV wear, vibration, and the risk of premature failure.

Airbag Man Coil Spring Helper Kit

Airbags are another popular option. These are known as a suspension helper. The bag sits inside the coil inside a protective bag. At low loads they are run at minimal pressures and do little, but at your heaviest loads they are inflated to keep your vehicle level which is important for stability, braking and steering.

Airbag Man - Manual Control

Our Manual option simply refers to the inflation and these have two tyre style valves fitted near your trailer hitch for adjusting pressure.

Airbag Man - Onboard Control

Our Onboard Control option simply refers to the inflation and these have a dual digital gauge and dual inflation/deflation pedals. We can only offer this system to those choosing one of our drawer systems as well as our electrical system with onboard compressor. The drawers are required for mounting the gauge and pedals and the compressor drives the onboard inflation.

Roadsafe Adjustable Panhard Rod

A Panhard rod is a suspension link that provides lateral location of the axle. One end attaches to the vehicle and the other end attaches to the axle and with the ~50mm lift of a GVM upgrade the axle moves slightly to the left. An adjustable Panhard rod allows us to correct the suspension to OE alignment which can improve tyre wear and handling.
