Long Range Fuel Tanks

The LandCruiser 300 comes standard from the factory with two fuel tanks: a 80L main tank and a 30L secondary tank, providing a total fuel capacity of 110L. These two tanks operate as a single system when it comes to filling and fuel level monitoring via the gauge and trip computer. While this may be adequate for everyday driving, it can quickly become a limiting factor when towing, touring remotely, or covering long distances between fuel stops. A long range tank is one of the most practical upgrades for the LC300, increasing fuel capacity and driving range without the need for jerry cans or frequent refuelling.

Outback Accessories Replacement Sub Fuel Tank

The first option is a replacement for the factory sub tank, manufactured in Perth by Outback Accessories. This tank increases the sub tank capacity to 84L, adding an extra 54L of fuel and bringing the total system capacity to 164L. It reuses the factory fuel sender from the original sub tank, and no additional modifications are required, making it a straightforward and cost effective upgrade. The spare wheel remains in its original position, and ground clearance is unaffected. As with most long range tanks, after installation the fuel gauge will stay on ‘full’ longer than usual, and the trip computer’s distance-to-empty reading will no longer be accurate - this is expected behaviour with the increased capacity.

The Long Ranger Fuel Tank & Water Tank Combination

The second option involves relocating the sub tank. The factory sub tank is removed, and its sender unit is transferred into a new 152L tank that is installed in place of the spare wheel. This allows a 60L water tank with an electric pump to be fitted where the original sub fuel tank was mounted. This setup increases total fuel capacity to 232L and adds valuable water storage - ideal for remote touring. A key advantage of this system is that it still operates with the factory single filler neck and factory fuel gauge, keeping things simple and user friendly. The only compromise is the removal of the spare wheel, which then requires the use of a rear wheel carrier or alternative spare solution.

Outback Accessories Rear Wheel Carrier

Manufactured in Western Australia from high-quality Australian steel, the Outback Accessories rear bar is a heavy-duty replacement for the factory bumper on the Landcruiser 300. Designed to accept one or two swing-away arms, the bar can be configured with dual wheel carriers, jerry can holders, or a combination of both. It offers excellent rear protection, improved departure angle thanks to its tapered wing design, and high-lift jack points positioned on the corners for easy access.

The swing-away arms feature traditional over-centre catches that are reliable in dusty conditions, assisted by gas struts for smooth operation. Carriers can be removed in under 10 minutes when not needed, allowing you to run a cleaner setup when you're not touring. The reversing camera and number plate are relocated to one of the spare wheels using a quality relocation kit.
